“Saint Seiya: Heaven Chapter – Overture” (聖闘士星矢 天界編 序奏 ‐overture‐), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 2004, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) ZA79
This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 2004 for the first Japanese theatrical release of Saint Seiya: Heaven Chapter – Overture (聖闘士星矢 天界編 序奏 ‐overture‐), directed by Shigeyasu Yamauchi and released by Toei as the long‑anticipated continuation of the classic Saint Seiya anime.
Film background
Set after the Hades saga, the film finds Pegasus Seiya grievously injured after his battle with Hades and under divine judgment for having raised his hand against a god. As Athena faces pressure from the Olympian deities—especially the vengeful Artemis—Seiya and the Bronze Saints must once again rise to defend their goddess and humanity itself. Though intended as the opening movement of a larger “Heaven Chapter,” the project stalled after this film, making Overture a unique and sometimes controversial coda to the original series.
Poster design
The B2 artwork showcases the series’ signature blend of myth and high drama. In the foreground, Seiya surges forward in gleaming white Pegasus Cloth, bandages visible on his arm, determination burning in his eyes. Behind him, Athena (Saori) stands in flowing white with lavender hair streaming, while a fiery‑haired, golden‑armoured deity looms at the top against a radiant yellow sky. Vertical copy on the right wonders if a “small universe” can surpass the gods, setting up the stakes. The bold logo 「聖闘士星矢」 sits at the bottom, backed by blue metallic highlights and the subtitle 「天界編 序奏 ‐overture‐」. It’s a dramatic, character‑driven piece perfectly aimed at long‑time fans.
