"Sharaku" (写楽), Original Japanese First-Release Movie Poster 1995, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) ZA102
This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1995 for Masahiro Shinoda’s period drama Sharaku (写楽)—a vivid imagining of the short, meteoric career of the enigmatic ukiyo-e master who revolutionised kabuki actor portraits in the 1790s.
Design
A striking homage to Edo print culture against a hot pink gradient: expressive kabuki faces and half-length figures—rendered in bold ukiyo-e linework and kimono stripes—fan across the sheet. Piercing stylised eyes float at center, while the vertical slogan 「しゃらくせえ。」 balances the massive title kanji 「写楽」 with the romanised Sharaku at right. A tall column of credits completes the elegant festival-style layout.
