“Snoopy, Come Home” (スヌーピーの大冒険), Japanese‑Dubbed Edition, Original Japanese Movie Poster 1973, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) ZA413
This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1973 for the Japanese‑dubbed theatrical release of Snoopy, Come Home (スヌーピーの大冒険), the second Peanuts feature film directed by Bill Melendez and distributed in Japan by Towa/Toho‑Towa. The movie follows Snoopy on an emotional journey when he leaves Charlie Brown to visit the hospitalised girl who once owned him.
Film background
After receiving a letter from Lila, the girl who cared for him before Charlie Brown, Snoopy decides he must go to her, accompanied by Woodstock. Their trip is filled with misadventures and run‑ins with “No Dogs Allowed” signs, while back home the Peanuts gang struggle with the possibility of losing Snoopy forever. Balancing slapstick comedy with moments of genuine melancholy, the film deepens the emotional world of Schulz’s characters and showcases another memorable song score by Richard and Robert Sherman.
Poster design
The B2 is a riot of bright colour and graphic charm. A huge circular vignette at the centre features Snoopy’s smiling head in profile, floating in a blue sea suggestive of his journey, while Woodstock stands atop Snoopy’s pink suitcase, ready for adventure. Around the rim of the circle, smaller coloured bubbles contain monochrome line drawings of the Peanuts gang in various emotional poses—Lucy, Peppermint Patty, Linus, and more—emphasising the ensemble nature of the story. In the upper left, smaller roundels show Snoopy preparing to leave with his bindle, reinforcing the “where are you going, Snoopy?” tagline. The bold red-and-pink Japanese title 「スヌーピーの大冒険」 curves across the top, with the English SNOOPY, COME HOME! printed vertically at the right for international recognition. It’s an irresistibly cheerful design that belies the film’s bittersweet core.
