Against some very stiff competition, this is one of the best poster designs for the film.

The outstanding design and quality of this original release is very unique to Japan; and made more special since it is printed on the very rare STB Tatekan (standing) poster size - where only a small number of this size was printed.

To our knowledge, this poster is one of the very few that still exist. This poster has not sold in any large auctions in the West, or the East. We came across it thorough a serious collector of family generations. Making this more than exceedingly rare.

This classic quirky film, starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon, is consistently voted the best comedy of all time. This Japanese poster seldom surfaces. (Source Sotheby`s)

"Well, nobody's perfect!" Maybe not, but this classic comedy had the perfect last line from Joe E. Brown. The American Film Institute selected it as the greatest American comedy film of all time, and for good reason. Joe and Jerry (Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon) are a pair of hapless musicians who witness a mob hit and disguise themselves as women to hide their identities. Enroute to a gig in Florida as part of an all-girl orchestra, they meet the lead singer, Sugar Kane (Marilyn Monroe), and both fall in love with her. The arrival of mob boss Spats Columbo (George Raft) in Florida further complicates things. Directed by Billy Wilder, this was the top money-making comedy of 1959. The film won an Oscar for costume design (how appropriate!), and was nominated for five others.
