“2 Days in Paris” (パリ、恋人たちの2日間), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 2007, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) O555
This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 2007 for the first Japanese theatrical release of 2 Days in Paris (パリ、恋人たちの2日間), written and directed by Julie Delpy.
Film background
2 Days in Paris is a sharp, talky romantic comedy that follows Marion (Julie Delpy), a French photographer, and Jack (Adam Goldberg), her neurotic American boyfriend, as they stop over in Paris on their way home from a trip to Venice. What should be a romantic detour quickly turns chaotic as Jack is thrown into Marion’s world of ex‑lovers, eccentric parents and culture‑clash misunderstandings. The film plays like a more abrasive, comedic cousin to the Before Sunrise trilogy (which also starred Delpy), exploring relationships, identity and the impossibility of truly understanding another person. The film premiered at the 2007 Berlin International Film Festival and became a cult favourite among fans of European indie cinema.
Poster design
The Japanese B2 artwork opts for a stylish illustrated approach rather than photo stills. Against a warm beige background, Marion and Jack stroll side by side in fashionable outfits and dark sunglasses, their body language and glances hinting at the film’s blend of romance and tension. A speech‑bubble style Japanese tagline floats beside them, echoing the film’s witty conversational tone, while the minimalist typography emphasises the title “2 DAYS in PARIS” and credits Julie Delpy both as star and director. The overall effect is chic and modern, perfectly matching the film’s indie sensibility and Parisian setting.
Rarity and condition
Japanese posters for contemporary European arthouse films were printed in relatively small numbers compared with mainstream Hollywood releases, and 2 Days in Paris is no exception. This makes the B2 a desirable piece for collectors of Delpy’s work, fans of relationship comedies, or anyone building a wall of modern European cinema.
