This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1997 for the theatrical Special Edition re-release of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. Featuring Drew Struzan’s beautifully illustrated artwork, this design belongs to the anniversary campaign that brought the original trilogy back to cinemas to celebrate twenty years of Star Wars.

Film background
Originally released in 1983, Return of the Jedi was directed by Richard Marquand and stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher. The concluding chapter of the original trilogy follows Luke Skywalker’s confrontation with Darth Vader and the Emperor, while the Rebel Alliance launches its attack on the second Death Star. The 1997 Special Edition introduced revised visual effects and additional footage, giving audiences a new opportunity to experience the trilogy on the big screen.

Poster design
