“Steve Jobs” (スティーブ・ジョブズ), Original Japanese First-Release Movie Poster 2016, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) J297
This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster produced for the 2016 first Japanese release of Steve Jobs, directed by Danny Boyle and starring Michael Fassbender as the Apple co-founder. Written by Aaron Sorkin and based on Walter Isaacson’s biography, the film opened in Japan through Toho-Towa on 12 February 2016.
The film takes place backstage before three product launches: the Macintosh in 1984, the NeXT computer in 1988 and the iMac in 1998. As Jobs prepares to address each audience, he faces more difficult conversations in private with his daughter Lisa and the people who helped build his career. Kate Winslet plays Joanna Hoffman, Seth Rogen plays Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, and Jeff Daniels appears as John Sculley.
The Japanese poster gives most of the sheet to open white space. At the lower right, a small monochrome portrait shows Fassbender in profile, wearing Jobs’ familiar black turtleneck, jeans and wire-rimmed glasses. His head is bowed, with one hand resting against his chin. The quiet pose gives the viewer a private moment before the public performance at the heart of the film.
The four principal cast names are stacked above the Japanese title 「スティーブ・ジョブズ」, which ends with a thin vertical stroke resembling a computer cursor. The opening date, “2.12 FRI,” provides the only strong accent of colour. Across the top, the headline bills the film as “A frontrunner at this year’s Academy Awards.”
The vertical Japanese tagline beside the portrait, 「口先ひとつで、世界を変えた男。」, translates as “The man who changed the world with words alone.” It captures both Jobs’ gift for persuasion and the question raised by his colleagues: how much credit belongs to the man who presents an invention, and how much to those who built it?
Excellent condition overall, with light handling creases visible in the pale background. The portrait and lettering remain crisp. Once framed, this poster will display excellently.
