This is an original 1988 Japanese B1 silkscreen poster by Tadanori Yokoo, created for JASRAC (the Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers). The identical work—medium, size, and title—is in the collections of M+ Hong Kong and MoMA New York (both date the print to 1988 and list the sheet at approx. 103 × 73 cm), underscoring its museum‑level importance. 

Design highlights

  • Yokoo’s exuberant pop‑psychedelic collage frames portrait medallions of composers Kosaku Yamada and Rentarō Taki beneath the scarlet crest RING RING BELLS. Classical columns, cherubs, checkerboard side bars, and a shamisen‑playing figure sit against a radiant sunset gradient of neon pinks, acid yellows, and electric greens—signature Yokoo.

  • The base cartouche reads JASRAC, foregrounding the poster’s commission and theme: a celebratory ode to Japan’s musical heritage rendered in saturated, hand‑pulled screen inks.

  • This composition—often referred to simply as “JASRAC”—is catalogued by M+ (object no. 2016.178) and MoMA (object no. 103.1990).
