P79 – One World Poetry (Amsterdam, 1979)
Original Offset Poster by Tadanori Yokoo
Dedicated to Jack Kerouac

Striking original offset-printed poster designed by Tadanori Yokoo for the 1979 “One World Poetry” festival in Amsterdam — a major international celebration of poetry, music, and countercultural exchange, dedicated to Beat Generation icon Jack Kerouac.

Printed in vibrant fluorescent tones, the poster features a surreal planetary composition: a vast pink orb against a yellow backdrop, overlaid with geometric shapes and red diagonal lines. Two collaged figures — a scientist peering into a microscope and a filmmaker aiming a camera — symbolize the convergence of rational inquiry and creative vision. This psychedelic-meets-modernist aesthetic is classic Yokoo: playful, chaotic, and charged with symbolic meaning.

Commissioned for the event’s launch at Paradiso and Melkweg, this rare poster captures the spirit of late-1970s international avant-garde and Yokoo’s unique global design language.
