This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1971 for the first domestic theatrical release of The Anderson Tapes (盗聴作戦), directed by Sidney Lumet and released in Japan by Columbia Pictures. First-issue Japanese posters for Lumet’s techno-caper—starring Sean Connery—are highly collectible.

Film background
Fresh out of prison, master thief John “Duke” Anderson (Connery) plots an audacious heist: robbing every apartment in an Upper East Side building in a single sweep. Unbeknownst to him, a web of agencies and criminals are recording his every move—wiretaps, bugs, and CCTV—turning the caper into a parable of the surveillance age. Co-stars include Dyan Cannon, Martin Balsam, Alan King, and a debuting Christopher Walken, with a funky score by Quincy Jones.

Poster design
A punchy, illustrated country sheet: against a blazing yellow field, three masked gunmen in white jump suits close in while Connery—sleek in a navy suit and striped tie—kneels with pistol at the ready. The lower band erupts with action vignettes: rappelling cops, roaring patrol cars, and a skidding armored truck. The bold crimson Japanese logotype 「盗聴作戦」 anchors the base beside compact English billing. Columbia crediting and the Eirin mark appear along the footer—classic hallmarks of a first-release sheet with superb wall presence.
