“The Oldest Profession” (愛すべき女・女たち), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1967, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) ZA724

Sale price $200.00

This is an original Japanese B2 poster issued in Japan for the theatrical release of The Oldest Profession (1967) — released in Japanese as 愛すべき女・女たち (Aisubeki Onna Onna-tachi). A stylish, adult-oriented French anthology film built around the theme of sex work and modern love, it presents a series of episodes directed by major names of the era and performed by an eye-catching international cast. This is exactly the kind of late-1960s European “art + erotica” cinema that Japanese distributors handled with strikingly bold, design-forward campaigns—making surviving posters particularly desirable.

Poster design

A vivid, pop-art-inflected composition with unmistakable 1960s European glamour. The poster is dominated by a tall, blonde figure in a floral two-piece, set against a painterly wash of yellow-green and warm abstract brushstrokes that feel almost like gallery colour-field work. A large close-up female face anchors the left side, while a strip of film stills on the right adds narrative tease—bedroom tableaux, a couple in intimacy, and nightlife atmosphere. The Japanese copy at upper left is wonderfully period: 「花よりも美しい愛を売る 陶酔の女たち—なめらかな肌が吐息が華麗な匂いをはこんでくる」—pure late-60s sensual marketing language. The title 「愛すべき女・女たち」 is set in bold pink across the bottom, with the original French title LE PLUS VIEUX MÉTIER DU MONDE printed in the still panel—an elegant bilingual touch.
