This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1969 for George Dunning’s animated pop-art fantasia Yellow Submarine (1968), with art direction by Heinz Edelmann and songs by The Beatles. A psychedelic adventure to free Pepperland from the Blue Meanies, it remains a landmark of late-’60s design and music cinema.

Design
A quintessential Edelmann composition: the upper field is a sea of black “holes” with the Fab Four popping in and out, while the lower half rolls in rainbow bands above the iconic yellow submarine. The arcing red Japanese masthead 「ビートルズ／イエロー・サブマリン」 sweeps across the center; the bubbly English title “The Beatles Yellow Submarine” and tagline “NOTHING IS REAL” sit above United Artists/Eirin marks—pure, era-defining psychedelia.
