“The Honey Pot” (三人の女性への招待状), Original Japanese B2 Movie Poster 1967, B2 Size (c. 51 × 73 cm) ZA504
This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed for The Honey Pot, Joseph L. Mankiewicz’s 1967 Venetian mystery‑comedy loosely inspired by Ben Jonson’s play Volpone and Frederick Knott’s stage adaptation. The film stars Rex Harrison, Susan Hayward, Cliff Robertson and Capucine.
Film background
Rex Harrison plays Cecil Fox, an eccentric millionaire in Venice who stages an elaborate charade by summoning three former lovers to his palazzo under false pretences of impending death and inheritance. As jealousies flare and a real murder intrudes on the game, the film blends romantic intrigue, drawing‑room wit and whodunnit plotting against the atmospheric backdrop of Piazza San Marco and Venetian canals.
Poster design
The Japanese B2 leans into glamorous melodrama. Two large profile portraits of key women bracket the composition—one blonde, one brunette—facing away from each other with cool, poised expressions. Between them stands another woman in a pink evening gown, clutching an envelope and yellow flower, clearly one of the “invited.” At the bottom, a crowd scene in St. Mark’s Square and a small, solitary figure in a dark coat evoke both romance and isolation. The Japanese title “三人の女性への招待状” (“Invitation to Three Women”) sweeps across the top in elegant crimson brush‑style letters, while a tiny full‑figure illustration of Rex Harrison in tuxedo stands to the right with the English logo “THE HONEY POT.”
