“The Lost Boys” (ロストボーイ), Original Japanese First Release Movie Poster 1987,, B2 Size (c. 51 × 73 cm) O664

Sale price $200.00

This is an original Japanese B2 poster issued in Japan for the first domestic theatrical release of The Lost Boys (1987), Joel Schumacher’s cult teen vampire classic—starring Jason Patric, Corey Haim, Kiefer Sutherland, Corey Feldman, Jami Gertz, and Dianne Wiest. The film opened theatrically in Japan on 8 August 1987 (Warner Bros. / Shochiku Fuji release).

Artist note (identification): This dramatic Japanese key art is credited to illustrator Akira Yokoyama (横山 明), whose painted, high-contrast style is a major reason this particular Japanese poster is so sought after by collectors.

Poster design
A superb, painterly Japanese composition that leans hard into gothic menace and teen-nightmare glamour. Against a deep black field, the title 「ロストボーイ」 hits in bold red, framed by eerie portrait clusters: a looming, shadowy “vampire gaze” in the centre, the Frog Brothers and the teen leads rendered in dramatic highlights, and a cruciform stake/weapon silhouette cutting through the darkness. The right side stages the vampire gang in a cold, spectral procession, while the overall palette—inky blacks, electric reds, and sickly nocturnal tones—captures the film’s exact mood: boardwalk neon, bloodlust, and adolescent danger. It’s one of those Japanese one-sheets that reads like an artwork first and a poster second—exceptionally displayable and instantly iconic on the wall.
