This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1971 for the first release of City Beneath the Sea.

A vibrant and action-packed Japanese B2 poster for City Beneath the Sea, a made-for-TV sci-fi spectacle produced by disaster movie pioneer Irwin Allen (The Poseidon Adventure, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea). This poster features thrilling hand-painted artwork, showcasing submarine battles, futuristic domed cities, underwater explosions, and chaotic escape scenes — all rendered in the bold, colorful style of 1970s pulp adventure.

Released theatrically in Japan, the film was retitled 「海底都市」 (Kaitei Toshi, "Undersea City") and marketed as a full-scale action-adventure — as reflected in the tagline at the top:

“A surprise attack on Earth from outer space? A massive operation to protect the city beneath the sea!”

Set in the near future, City Beneath the Sea imagines a fully functioning underwater metropolis, Pacifica, threatened by both natural disaster and external sabotage. A mission is launched to protect the city — and the nuclear gold reserve it guards — before catastrophe strikes.

This poster is in excellent condition. Please refer to the imagery as this is the exact poster that is for sale.
