Film background
Directed by Michael Apted, the nineteenth Eon entry stars Pierce Brosnan as James Bond with Sophie Marceau, Robert Carlyle, and Denise Richards. Bond protects oil heiress Elektra King while confronting terrorist Renard, whose inability to feel pain raises the stakes from the Caucasus to the Thames. Score by David Arnold; title song by Garbage. This was Brosnan’s third outing as 007.
Poster design
A striking minimalist composition: Bond’s silhouette with suppressed pistol faces a full-height female figure rendered entirely in flames against a jet-black ground. The bilingual titling places the Japanese logotype above the metallic English mark “The World Is Not Enough 007,” with the teaser line “COMING SOON” at the base. The high-contrast black field gives this sheet strong wall presence.
