"The Young Master" (ヤング・マスター / 師弟出馬), Original Japanese Movie Poster 1980, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) N228

Sale price $100.00

This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1980 for the release of The Young Master, directed by and starring Jackie Chan. Distributed in Japan by Toho-Towa, it marked a major turning point in Chan’s career, cementing his reputation as Asia’s top martial arts star.

The Young Master (師弟出馬) was Jackie Chan’s first film with Golden Harvest after leaving Lo Wei’s studio, and his second directorial feature following Fearless Hyena (1979). The film tells the story of Dragon (Chan), a kung fu student who sets out to find his errant brother and becomes entangled in a case of mistaken identity, betrayal, and redemption. Known for its elaborate fight choreography, acrobatics, and mix of comedy and martial arts spectacle, the film was a massive box-office success in Hong Kong and internationally.

The poster design is bold and kinetic: Jackie Chan dominates the composition, wielding both a fan and a sword against a vivid red and blue background, surrounded by action stills of his most dazzling stunts. The colorful Japanese typography emphasizes both Chan’s name and the film’s energy, reflecting the blend of humor, athleticism, and innovation that defined his early Golden Harvest films.
