This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1955 for the first release of There’s No Business like Show Business.
The image showcases the stunning screen goddess, Marilyn Monroe. Originally, Monroe did not want to make this film, but she agreed after Fox promised her the lead in Billy Wilder's screen version of the Broadway hit, The Seven Year Itch.
To our knowledge, this poster is one of the very few that still exist. This poster has not sold in any large auctions in the West, or the East. We came across it thorough a serious collector of family generations. Making this more than exceedingly rare.
We are honored to be able to export some of Japan's finest original vintage posters from the Land of the Rising Sun to collectors around the world!
This 1954 20th Century-Fox Musical-Comedy-Drama film was directed by Walter Lang, and the title of the film, "There's No Business like Show Business", was actually borrowed from the famous song in the stage musical (and MGM film), Annie Get Your Gun.
