“Toy Story 2” (トイ・ストーリー2), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 2000, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) ZA375
This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 2000 for the first Japanese theatrical release of Toy Story 2, the 1999 Pixar sequel directed by John Lasseter and distributed in Japan by Buena Vista International (Japan). The film reached Japanese cinemas on March 11, 2000, continuing the adventures of Woody, Buzz and the rest of Andy’s toys.
Film background
Set some time after the first film, Toy Story 2 finds Woody kidnapped by an obsessive toy collector who plans to ship him to a museum in Japan. Buzz and the gang mount a rescue mission, while Woody wrestles with the choice between a safe immortality behind glass and a finite life as a child’s plaything. The film was acclaimed for deepening the original’s themes of friendship, identity and aging, and is often cited as one of Pixar’s strongest sequels.
Poster design
The Japanese B2 uses a clean, white background to make the bold, primary‑coloured TOY STORY 2 logo pop at the centre of the composition. Woody and Buzz dominate the lower right, rendered in bright CG with Buzz grinning and flashing a playful “victory” sign just behind Woody’s head, underlining their easy camaraderie. Along the left side a vertical green tagline announces that the “two big stars co‑star once again,” while their names, 「ウッディ」 and 「バズ」, appear in grey at the top corners. The overall design is light, friendly and instantly recognisable to families and Disney‑Pixar collectors.
