“TRON” (トロン), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1982, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) O751
This is an original Japanese B2 movie poster printed in 1982 for the first Japanese theatrical release of TRON (トロン), Disney’s pioneering science-fiction film directed by Steven Lisberger.
Film background
Released in 1982, TRON is a landmark of early digital cinema—one of the first major studio features to integrate extensive computer-generated imagery into a live-action film. Set inside a computer system, it follows programmer Kevin Flynn as he is digitised and forced into gladiatorial games and rebellion within the electronic world. Its visual language—neon circuitry, sleek suits, and arcade-like geometry—became instantly iconic and has influenced design, music, and sci-fi media for decades.
Poster design
A classic, ultra-clean key art built around a single glowing figure: the blue-haloed warrior stands front-facing with hands on hips, his suit traced in electric red circuitry and the chest disc blazing like a reactor core. The stark black field amplifies the neon contrast, giving the sheet enormous wall presence. At the base, the futuristic TRON logotype sits above the English tagline “An electronic odyssey — It all happens inside the computer”, perfectly capturing the film’s early-’80s techno-myth mood. Minimal elements, maximum impact—one of the great graphic sci-fi one-sheets of the era.
