This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1973 by Paramount / U.I.P.（UIP配給）for the Japanese re-release of War and Peace（「戦争と平和」）, King Vidor’s sweeping adaptation of Leo Tolstoy starring Audrey Hepburn, Henry Fonda, and Mel Ferrer, with supporting turns by Vittorio Gassman, John Mills, and Anita Ekberg. Music by Nino Rota and photography associated with the Technirama/CinemaScope roadshow era.

Poster design
A luminous, bonneted Audrey Hepburn dominates the composition in a large, serene portrait. Beneath her, a panoramic Napoleonic battlefield surges with cavalry and cannon, while a romantic inset of Hepburn and Mel Ferrer balances the war imagery—perfectly echoing the title’s duality. The bold burgundy Japanese logotype 「戦争と平和」 spans the base with “War and Peace” in small Latin type at lower right; vertical cast credits run down the left margin, with a red copy line on the right. Distributor marks for Paramount / U.I.P. complete a refined and quintessentially Japanese presentation.
