This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1971 for Etienne Périer’s nautical action-thriller When Eight Bells Toll, adapted from Alistair MacLean’s bestseller. A young Anthony Hopkins stars as secret agent Philip Calvert hunting a ring of gold hijackers off the Scottish coast, with support from Jack Hawkins, Robert Morley, and Nathalie Delon. Rugged locations, tight espionage set-pieces, and storm-tossed sea work give the film a distinctive Cold-War-meets-seafaring bite.
