This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1967 for the first release of Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree.
Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree is a 1966 animated featurette based on the first and second chapters of A. A. Milne’s classic Winnie-the-Pooh. It marked the debut of Disney’s beloved Winnie the Pooh character on screen. Directed by Wolfgang Reitherman and produced by Walt Disney, the film introduced audiences to the whimsical charm of the Hundred Acre Wood.
The short features the now-iconic voices of Sterling Holloway as Winnie the Pooh, Bruce Reitherman as Christopher Robin, Junius Matthews as Rabbit, Ralph Wright as Eeyore, Barbara Luddy as Kanga, Clint Howard as Roo, John Fiedler as Piglet, and Hal Smith as Owl. The music, written by the Sherman Brothers (Richard M. and Robert B. Sherman), added timeless charm and singalong magic that would become a signature of the series.
This poster was issued for the Japanese-language theatrical release, and features wonderful, unique artwork not seen in other international versions. It depicts Pooh joyfully floating with a red balloon in his classic quest for honey, surrounded by bees and friends from the Hundred Acre Wood.
